I haven't been to the gym since the first week of October (which I forgot to write about, lol), but I've somehow managed to lose 17 pounds! Woohoo! At the end of September I went to the doctor's office, and I weighed 272, my highest weight ever. I am working at the vet clinic right now, on winter break, and I weighed in at 255 the other day. Very exciting, let me tell you! It said 257 today, but different times of day/after eating/etc make a difference, so I'm not going to worry about it too much. My clothes are fitting somewhat better, and even though I haven't been working out due to time constraints, I have also almost eliminated my fast food and soda consumption. I think that's the real reason I've lost some weight.
Previous goals:
Immediate goal: 250 lbs by Halloween
Moderate goal: 235 lbs by Christmas
Long term goal: 170 lbs
Updated goals:
Current weight: 257 as of today
Immediate goal: 250 lbs by January 31st
Moderate goal: 235 lbs by Easter
Long term goal: 170 lbs
I think these goals are much more realistic.

So much for being more regular, eh? At least I have a (semi) decent excuse this time: my badge wasn't working for the school gym, so I didn't have access to the machines. Blah blah blah, I know.
Today I went up the Grand Staircase for the first time, and only had to take a five minute breather at the top, haha! That's not terrible. After class, I went to the gym and walked once around the track, then got onto the elliptical machine right away because it was the only one left. The entire basketball team was (were? I'm not even sure of the conjugation here) using the cardio machines, which I've never seen them do before.
My classmates Kyle and Tyler were using them near me, so it was like I had to impress them by going hardcore. Hardcore being relative, of course, since the whole team was on pretty high incline and resistance...and I was at less than half of theirs, lol! I ended up going for a whole half hour, which was about two miles. Not terrible, and I definitely felt tired at the end of it. After one more lap around the track, I left and went home.

Yes, it has been a loooonnng time since I wrote an entry.
I've felt vaguely guilty about abandoning this blog, but I spent so much time rationalizing to myself why I wasn't exercising (work, school, vacation... the list goes on and on) that I started to feel like it was okay. You know what? It isn't okay, and it wasn't okay, but I'm trying to get back on track now!
I did lose a few pounds over the summer, only about eight but heck, that's better than nothing. I measured myself with my grandma's flexible tape, so I'll have to post those measurements when I remember to grab the paper.
Today was the last day of my first week back in school. I had set a goal for myself to be back in the school gym by the end of the second week of classes, once I was back "in the swing" of things. This morning, though, I looked at my workout clothes and said, "Yes, I will go to the gym today." It was really quite warm today, so I wasn't looking forward to the non-air conditioned gym, but I bucked up and went anyway. My key card didn't work, which was strange, but another girl let me in.
After I changed, I stretched and walked two laps on the track. There were about six young women on the treadmills and ellipticals, as well as a class in the room up there (UNI 101, which is a freshman class). I got on the elliptical and did 20 minutes, which kept my heart rate at about 174 for most of the time, according to the machine. After that I did one cool down lap, because my knees felt like noodles. Not my best time on the machine, for sure, but I'm just happy that I went.
I'm posting my new stats and revised goals, and I'm hoping that I can meet them. I'm not sure that 30 lbs by Christmas is realistic, but it's something to aim for.
My goals:
Current weight: 264 lbs
Immediate goal: 250 lbs by Halloween
Moderate goal: 235 lbs by Christmas
Long term goal: 170 lbs
