Update and Upcoming 5k

I have had no time to do any sort of writing in a long time. That's why I haven't been posting here, but I have been doing okay with my goals. I have only done a few actual "workouts," but I've maintained a lower weight than before and I'm still losing inches. The other day I purchased and fit into a size XL pair of compression pants and a men's XL t-shirt. That was such an amazing feeling. I haven't worn those sizes since just after High School. I still wear size 18/20 jeans, but the compression pants are meant to fit more snugly. I'm also feeling a LOT more self-confident and am dressing more attractively and wearing makeup more. I went to a Halloween party on Saturday the 25th, and wore nylon tube dress, leggings, and hair... and rocked it, in my opinion. I'm going to post that picture as an update pic so you can see the progress. I obviously still have a LONG way to go, and a lot of weight to lose, but I'm really pleased with where I'm at vs this same time last year.

(The "slutty leopard" costume... even though I was wearing more clothes than most, lol)

My target area now is definitely my stomach. My legs are rather slim and shapely (and muscular!), thanks in large part to genetics, haha, but my stomach needs a lot of work. To help with that, I registered for a 5k at my school on December 6th! I have only done one "training session" for that, and definitely need to do more running, but if nothing else that will be one day of good exercise. I hope to update this more in the future.

Stats:

Weight: 253 lbs
Goal by Christmas: 240 lbs OR a jeans size less
Goal by March 2015: 225 lbs
Goal by my birthday (September) 2015: 200 lbs
One year goal: Under 200 lbs!!

1.22.14

Today was another round of the Body Conditioning class with Abby. I have an on campus job as a Peer Reader, so I was a few minutes late. I hopped onto the elliptical with the other people (there were four of us today as students) and managed to do about 7 minutes before they were done.

Back in the dance studio room, we did a mix of core and limb exercises. I'm finding that I'm getting better at lunges! I can go a bit further down than I could last week, so that's good! The ab stuff was actually harder this week than last week, and I had to rest more.

Overall, I am noticing that it is slightly easier for me to go up the stairs on campus. A few times during the day I have to go from a lower building up to the main building, which is six flights of stairs. I'm trying to go faster up them, because it, strangely, seems easier.

1.15.14

Today I went to the Body Conditioning class with Abby again, and it kicked my butt! Again, lol.

We warmed up with fifteen minutes on the elliptical, then walked two laps around the track. After that, we did a few lunges and squats, some calf raises, and some arm exercises, but it was mostly a day to focus on core/abs. Holy cow! By the last exercise, I felt like I was going to throw up. It was just on the edge of too much for me. I just know that tomorrow I'm going to be so sore, but it will be a good sore.

1.13.14

8 oz cups of water: 4, and perhaps 1 more before bed
16 oz Sprite mixed with cranberry juice (mostly Sprite)

Snacks:
1 12g almond roca piece
1 Quaker Chewy Yogurt strawberry granola bar

Lunch:
Cheeseburger with mayo and mustard only
1/3 salad (romaine lettuce, ranch dressing, a hardboiled egg, some olives, tortilla strips, and lots of zucchini). I only ate about 1/3 of what is pictured, because it didn't taste as good as I had hoped, so I didn't list the things that I didn't eat.

Dinner:
Leftover Shepherd's pie with leftover poultry gravy added for moisture
2 leftover crescent rolls

1.13.14

I tried something new today that I was really nervous about. I showed up for a free "body conditioning" class at my school's gym! I figured it would be circuit training, or free weights or something, but since I was the only one there it ended up being an hour of personal training, lol. The instructor is a really nice girl named Abby, and she said that what we did is pretty typical for her classes.

We warmed up with a mile on the elliptical, which took about twelve minutes for me, and then briskly walked two laps on the track. In the studio classroom, we got a weight for each hand (I started with 3 pounders but needed to use heavier ones, so I switched to 4s. I will probably stick with those for a week or two) and did a minute of lunges. This was followed by arm exercises, core exercises, and lots of calf work and squats. I enjoyed myself, and I think I'll go back on Wednesday depending on when my play rehearsals are. The class is twice a week at 5pm, so on Fridays I will do my own normal cardio thing, I think.

I am feeling my quads right now, let me tell you!

Update

I haven't been to the gym since the first week of October (which I forgot to write about, lol), but I've somehow managed to lose 17 pounds! Woohoo! At the end of September I went to the doctor's office, and I weighed 272, my highest weight ever. I am working at the vet clinic right now, on winter break, and I weighed in at 255 the other day. Very exciting, let me tell you! It said 257 today, but different times of day/after eating/etc make a difference, so I'm not going to worry about it too much. My clothes are fitting somewhat better, and even though I haven't been working out due to time constraints, I have also almost eliminated my fast food and soda consumption. I think that's the real reason I've lost some weight.

Previous goals:

Immediate goal: 250 lbs by Halloween
Moderate goal: 235 lbs by Christmas
Long term goal: 170 lbs

Updated goals:

Current weight: 257 as of today
Immediate goal: 250 lbs by January 31st
Moderate goal: 235 lbs by Easter
Long term goal: 170 lbs

I think these goals are much more realistic.

9.19.2013

So much for being more regular, eh? At least I have a (semi) decent excuse this time: my badge wasn't working for the school gym, so I didn't have access to the machines. Blah blah blah, I know.

Today I went up the Grand Staircase for the first time, and only had to take a five minute breather at the top, haha! That's not terrible. After class, I went to the gym and walked once around the track, then got onto the elliptical machine right away because it was the only one left. The entire basketball team was (were? I'm not even sure of the conjugation here) using the cardio machines, which I've never seen them do before.

My classmates Kyle and Tyler were using them near me, so it was like I had to impress them by going hardcore. Hardcore being relative, of course, since the whole team was on pretty high incline and resistance...and I was at less than half of theirs, lol! I ended up going for a whole half hour, which was about two miles. Not terrible, and I definitely felt tired at the end of it. After one more lap around the track, I left and went home.
